Calling Serena Williams’ husband Alexis Ohanian an active social media user would certainly be an understatement. He capitalizes on his massive following while talking about topics related to technology, sports, and more. But that’s not all. He is also very knowledgeable and eloquent on other topics that affect society as a whole, especially children. One of the topics I decided to talk about recently was the βSAT.β

Ohanian took to Twitter to share a video from his podcast and his thoughts on taking the SAT. In the video, he can be seen talking about the logic behind taking the SAT and how the education system can better identify and recognize the potential of each student.
I added: “The exam system we use has remained unchanged for the past 67 years. In order to truly unlock students’ potential, there must be a better system than the SAT.“

My parents couldn’t afford an SAT tutor, so they bought me a book. The first time I bought it was 1280. Then I took the test again a few months later and got a 1420. I definitely didnβt get any wiser in those two months. Make the whole thing feel casual.

Alexis also shared his experience of taking the SAT twice and scoring 1280 and 1420 consecutively. He added that his parents couldn’t afford a tutor, so he got by through a book. He took the exams only a few months apart and didn’t prepare any differently, so it’s not accurate to his potential.
“Makes the whole thing feel casual“, he added. We’re sure many students will agree with them and start adopting the new testing system to accurately assess everyone’s potential.
Not only did Alexis share the issue on the internet, he also provided a temporary solution to the problem he highlighted. As usual, his solution is based on something he likes and enjoys trying: it’s none other than artificial intelligence.

In a series of tweets I shared on the same topic, Alexis also added that since everything is evolving around the world, the entrance exam system for universities and schools should also change. One of the potential solutions he thinks is better than the SAT is artificial intelligence-based bots that can hold conversations with students.

I can imagine a version of college admissions that starts with AI-powered bots talking to students.
It takes a lot of work and requires training on a high-quality data set, but it can give colleges a clearer picture of who their students are and what they think.

He said the bots could be more helpful in understanding what students are capable of in terms of skills and potential, rather than just delivering an SAT test that doesn’t actually analyze anything.
