Come on, Barbie, let’s go to a party… in Monte Carlo?

Following the runaway success of Barbie, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are gearing up to return to the big screen for their next project together as the stars of the upcoming Ocean’s Eleven prequel.

The new film’s producer, Josie McNamara, told GamesRadar in an interview published Tuesday that he’s confident Robbie and Gosling will “do right by the franchise.”

“I’m really excited for people to see it when it’s done,” he said, later adding, “They’re wonderful together. It would be great if we could do more projects even beyond this.”

The untitled prequel is being produced by Robbie’s production company LuckyChap Entertainment and will be directed by Austin Powers and Scandal director Jay Roach. just revealed that the film takes place in Monte Carlo in the 1960s.

Ocean’s Eleven premiered in 2001 and starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and Julia Roberts. It spawned three sequels, including the all-female spin-off Ocean’s Eight starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway and others.

The original Ocean’s Eleven, a Rat Pack-led remake of the 1960 film of the same name that starred Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin, follows Danny Ocean (Clooney) and 10 of his associates as they attempt an elaborate heist casino in Las Vegas run by Andy Garcia’s Terry Benedict. Roach’s prequel will be the first film in the Ocean’s franchise to be released since Ocean’s 8 premiered in 2018.

The screen magic between Robbie and Gosling in Barbie was undeniable, and their performances were widely praised by moviegoers and critics alike. (Barbie was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, which, like CNN, is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery.)

Barbie was a huge box office success, with Greta Gerwig’s film about the iconic Mattel doll grossing over $1 billion. It is currently the highest-grossing film of 2023.
