This time, however, it is not his interpretative skills that attract the attention of the public and journalists. Following up on what we saw at the Super Bowl, the new Dunkin’ Donuts commercial sees Ben Affleck walking into a Boston store and announce, “I’m here for the Dunkin’ Run…the commercial campaign. It’s a great deal: a big coffee, a donut for a dollar.” In response, the two cashiers of the restaurant look dumbfounded at the actor, clearly demonstrating that don’t recognize it. And that’s when Affleck tries to help them figure out who he really is. “You know, I don’t advertise. I’m a real actor. This is an art form for me”, he comments referring to the two boys who look at him in disbelief.
And in the utter confusion, one of the two cashiers seems to have an epiphany. “The Departed!”, he declares looking at the actor, without realizing it for confusing him with Matt Damon. The Massachusetts-born actor worked alongside Ben Affleck in the masterpiece film Rebel geniuswhich allowed them to win an Oscar for screenplay written together. The Departed, repeats Affleck proving offended by what happened. And that’s when the actor is seen walking out of the Dunkin ‘Donuts store holding his order in his hands, a coffee and a donut. A habit that the actor seems to have been carrying around since he was a teenager.
