(AGR) Rome doesn’t need a policy of large events confined to the center, Honorato’s adviser argues over controversy following Travis Scott’s concert at the Circus Maximus.
Instead, it is necessary to multiply the cultural offer in the territories in order to create a 15-minute city, to program free shows in each area, especially in the suburbs, to offer them to those who cannot even travel outside of Rome for a few days in the summer.
The policy of holding large events in the center of Rome, aimed primarily at attracting tourists, absorbs and turns the historic city into a commodity, without having a positive impact on the territories and citizens.
The capital is vast and there is scope for diversification as well as the use of public spaces outside the center for major events and exceptional concerts that attract an extraordinary influx of audiences. The relocation of the cultural offering is also another opportunity to increase services and maintenance work in the suburbs.
