Britney Spears has raised concerns about a video she recently posted of herself dancing with what appears to be two large kitchen knives.
In a follow-up post, the pop singer explained on Tuesday that she was “copying Shakira,” who just performed with knives at the Video Music Awards, and urged everyone to “not mind the knives.”
She also edited the title of her previous video to clarify that the knives are “NOT real.”
“Halloween is coming,” she added.
On Monday, Spears shared a video of herself quickly spinning and cutting through the air with the caption: “I started playing in the kitchen with knives.” Some were quick to express concerns about her physical safety and the well-being of her dogs hanging around at the end of the video.
Others suspected the knives were fake, and some even made comparisons to Shakira before Spears posted about it.
Earlier this month, Shakira received a lifetime achievement award and performed a moving medley of her greatest hits at the VMAs. Her performance included a dance break where she held a pair of dagger-like knives while swaying her famous honest hips.
“I want to share this with my fans who always support me no matter what,” Shakira said while accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
“Thank you so much for being my army and helping me fight all my battles.”
