Cavaliers president Kobe Altman arrested for DUI

Cleveland Cavaliers president of operations Kobe Altman was arrested Friday night on charges of operating an impaired vehicle.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said Altman was pulled over by police after committing a traffic violation on a highway near downtown Cleveland. Troopers suspected Altman was in an inconvenienced condition when they stopped him and took him into custody, according to a Highway Patrol report.

Altman refused to submit to a breathalyser test, but the report noted that he was “respectful and cooperative” with police. They charged him with being an inconvenience and violating lane regulations.

On Saturday, Ultraman celebrated his 41st birthday.

The Cavaliers issued a brief statement saying they were aware of the “incident” involving Altman and were gathering more information.

Altman joined Cleveland’s front office in 2012 and rose through the personnel department before being named general manager in 2017. He spearheaded a massive rebuild following LeBron James’ departure in 2018.

Cleveland won 51 games last season as the team returned to the playoffs for the first time in four years — and the first time since the 1997-98 season without LeBron James.

Altman finished second in last year’s Executive of the Year voting. In 2022, he renewed his contract with the team until the 2027-28 season.
