Microwave ovens are essential appliances in our homes. It can not only heat, but also cook and boil, so it is used almost every day. For this reason, and because it reaches very high temperatures, it gets dirty very easily.
As a result of poor cleaning, it often happens that difficult-to-remove grease and food splatters build up. If you’re one of those people who can’t be bothered to clean your microwave, follow these tips to make it shine quickly and easily.
Water, Vinegar, and Salt Tips
We put 250ml of water, a pinch of vinegar and a tablespoon of salt in a microwave safe container. We cover it with a transparent film and make a few holes with a toothpick or a fork or a microphone cover, but only if it has an exit hole.
We put the container in the microwave and heat it for five minutes at maximum power. The steam produced during boiling wets the walls and removes accumulated dirt. Allow the reaction to proceed for 10 minutes before opening the door. Then you just remove the plate and wipe it with a cloth or sponge, and you’ll see how the stain disappears with barely any rubbing. Then dry with kitchen paper.
The same process as before can be done with a mixture of two cups of water and the juice of half a lemon instead of vinegar.
The cleaning power of baking soda
Baking soda never fails when it comes to cleaning tasks. Sprinkle a small amount of this product onto a damp sponge and gently wipe the sides of the microwave. Rinse off with water and it will be shiny.
use dish soap
Put a tablespoon of liquid dish soap in a bowl of warm water and place it in the microwave. Let it heat on full power for a minute. Moisten the sponge with this water and clean the inside. Dirt will soon be history.
Soggy Rag Tips
Take an ordinary kitchen towel and place it in a container with water and a tablespoon of dish soap. Remove the cloth and place it on the microwave dish without wringing it out. Heat it on maximum power for three minutes, making sure it doesn’t burn. As with the previous tip, steam will come out, removing grease and food stains. After cooling slightly with the same cloth, wipe the entire interior and dry it with kitchen paper.
For the outside area of the microwave, a cloth dampened with soapy water or bicarbonate will suffice. If it’s stainless steel, marks are easier to remove by wiping with a cloth dampened with water and ammonia.
