(Gianluca Masters) The Filanda exhibition explores the dialogue between Italian and American contemporary artists that the Spazio Soncino Gallery and Pro Loco are presenting as part of the fourth edition of “Art Am, American and Non Artists”, planned in the fireplace room of a former spinning mill. from 24 August to 20 September.
This event has two creators and curators: Luigi Cazzaniga and his wife, Ilka Scobi. The couple lives and works in New York but spends summers in Soncino participating in exhibitions and art events. Cazzaniga often takes part in the city’s biennale and exhibits both in the countryside and in the Big Apple. Ilka is a poet and educator who writes about contemporary art for London’s Artlyst.
Among the artists who will be exhibiting for Filanda will be the master Ugo Rondinone, who created a special installation for the occasion, and the artists Vera Esposito, Elisabetta Zagrande, Elisabetta Maestro and Michela Martello, who are exhibiting in Italy. that in New York, the photographer Francesco Nazardo, who works in New York, London and Milan, and the Portuguese photographer Rita Barros, who divides her time between New York and Lisbon and is at the London Royal Academy exhibition this summer. The list of foreign artists includes Chris Martin, Jamie Diamond, Hanny Ahern, Tamara Gonzalez, Nemo Librizzi, Sarina Lewis, Valerie and Ruth Oistanu, Shahrzad Kamel, Travis Brown, Tamsin Burgess, Madeleine Weinrib, Lola Schnabel (a New Yorker who lives and works in Sicily) and in Uman. Soncino, the birthplace of the artist Piero Manzoni, continues to develop its creativity by producing artists who create exciting and relevant works. It is a great honor for the village to cover this phenomenon. Among the local and Milanese artists who will take part in the exhibition will be Sandria di Monte, Duccio di Monte, Elena Monzo, Luigi Di Luca, Brunivo Buttarelli, Claudia Margadonna, Francesca Guarneri aka Cisci, Emanuele Ricci, Giacomo Stringini Ciboldi, Marco Santoro, Laura Cazzaniga, Maria Cristina Cavagnoli, Stefano Ogliari Badessi, Demis Martinelli, Gigi Roveda, Attilio Solzi, Paola Galli, Silvia Trappa, Alessandro Pedrini, Max Cavallari and Luigi Cazzaniga. Instead, Ileana Florescu arrives from Rome.
It is no coincidence that Piero Manzoni’s major exhibition, sponsored, like Filanda, by Proloco and by the municipality of Soncino, is currently on display at the local press museum. Art Am 4 couldn’t imagine a better company.
The exhibition will be open on August 24 from 16:00 to 20:00, on other days – on Friday from 14:30 to 19:00, on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:30 to 19:00 .
