It was one of the most watched and talked about films of the past film season. Don’t look up, combining irony, lightness, drama and many of Hollywood’s most loved actors (this alone could be a good reason to see him and it was probably done to reach as many audiences as possible), everyone seems to agree. Let’s rediscover the last effort of Adam McKay. Available on Netflix.

Don't look up

Don’t look up

Astronomy PhD candidate Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) discovers the existence of an as-yet-unidentified comet. His professor, Randall Mindy (Leonardo Di Caprio), calculating its trajectory, realizes that the celestial body will hit the Earth in six months and 14 days and that its dimensions are such as to involve the complete destruction of any life form. on the planet; subsequent verifications also confirm his thesis.

A race against time: will they be able to avoid the catastrophe?

Official Trailer

“The thing is, we really had it all, didn’t we?”

Now it’s useless to hide behind a finger, climate change (but not only) is slowly destroying the planet and most people continue to pretend not to see or try to buy time believing it’s a series b problem. Starting with the greats of the Earth (they always find a way to save themselves!).

Don’t look up it is really a film of social criticism where, in addition to putting the spotlight on the “environmental theme”, it talks about today’s people. Those who have a little influence like the televisions try to play down and sweeten the pill which on the one hand is fine but on the other we end up not raising enough awareness among citizens who are by now increasingly anxious, selfish and uncaring. Better not to listen and believe those who, even bluntly tell an uncomfortable truth, it is easier to just take care of “your own backyard”. As the title already suggests, not looking up/at others won’t solve anything but rather, it will only aggravate the situation…

Don't look up

Contrary to what one might think, given the topics covered, the film is not at all heavy but it is pleasant and often leaves room for a few laughs. The screenplay is original and engaging, it makes fun of us but with the sole purpose of making us open our eyes. Arouse mixed emotions…

Don’t look up – All the world is country

Don’t look up it was set in the United States but anyone can relate to it, especially for the new generations.

It is very interesting that from time to time the scenes are interspersed with images of nature, as if to highlight the beauty of simplicity, the marvel we are surrounded by but which is disappearing. In the end, when everything falls apart, the only thing that matters is spending the last moments of life with your loved ones: isn’t this the meaning of life?

Good vision!
