When Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers and Andy Taylor get together, anything can happen and something is bound to work. The last time was for an album Paper godswhich coincidentally marked a return to success band from Birmingham and this time it’s for Black moonlightDuran Duran’s new single is out today. Nile Rodgers, guitarist, producer and co-founder of Chic, the original disco-era R&B group, has always been a Duran Duran hero. Long before the group became known throughout the planet.
Legend has it that the British new wave band heard INXS Original Sin at a party thrown in Melbourne by legendary Australian music critic Molly Meldrum. Rodgers produced Original Sin, and after that evening he was invited to work on Duran Duran’s 1984 single The Reflex. The result was a success that topped the sales charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
Nile Rodgers and Duran Duran remained close friends over the years, working on several studio projects, including Wild boys. And also for albums Notorious, astronaut and the above Paper gods. And on stage too. And from today, September 21, a new seal, consolidating this long-term musical union, Black moonlight.
Black moonlight second release of sixteenth studio album Dance of Death group introduced into the Rock Hall. The song has the typical sound of a Duran Duran classic, and that solid Nile Rodgers riff reminds you of what he invented Get lucky from Daft Punk. The single also features Andy Taylor, lead guitarist from the classic Duran line-up.
Dance of Death will be released on October 27th via Tape Modern/BMG and will feature Måneskin’s Victoria De Angelis, producer Mr. Hudson and former guitarist Warren Cucurullo.. Black Moonlight is the second of three new songs and the follow-up to the title track from the record, released late last month, which already includes songs from Andy Taylor and Cucurullo. The concept album is rumored to “create the soundtrack to the ultimate Halloween party.” And it included covers Bury a friend Billie Eilish, Psychopathic killer talking heads, Paint it black the Rolling Stones group, Enchanted from Siouxsie and the Banshee, Ghost Town by The Specials.
