Dwayne Johnson Almost Played Tom Cruise’s Iconic Character

It’s hard to imagine a time when Dwayne Johnson wasn’t an A-list movie star.

The former WWE wrestler has appeared in an incredible number of franchises, including Fast and furious, Jumanji and even the DC Cinematic Universe.

However, early in his career, the 51-year-old actor missed out on the iconic role, which eventually went to Hollywood legend Tom Cruise. The Rock explains everything below:

During a Facebook Q&A with fans Black Adam star explained how he missed out on a role that could have changed his life during the pandemic.

The actor said that he wanted to play super sniper Jack Reacher because he was a big fan of the franchise.

The Rock also shared a number of physical attributes with the character, such as height and build, meaning he should have been the obvious choice to play him on the big screen.

He told fans: “In Hollywood, actors are kind of in a box… There are actors who can compete for a certain role because it allows them to have a certain look, skin color, size, etc.”

“Fortunately, there aren’t that many guys like me. So with all my roles since the beginning of my career, I’ve been lucky that they were created and designed for me – with the exception of Jack Reacher.”

Of course, the role eventually went to veteran action hero Tom Cruise, who went on to play the action hero in two films.

Although Johnson was very upset about missing out on the role, he admitted that it actually allowed him to further his career as he could focus on other projects.

As luck would have it, soon after, the former WWE wrestler received a call from Universal Studios asking him to star in the film. Fast and Furious franchise.
