Emirati statement after the Israeli bombing of two schools in Gaza

The Ministry underlined the need for an immediate ceasefire to prevent bloodshed, underlining the importance that civilians and civilian institutions enjoy full protection “in accordance with international law and international treaties, and the need not to be target of conflicts”.

The declaration calls on the international community to make every effort to avoid a further escalation of the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and to continue all efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

The Israeli military did not comment on these raids, but said its forces were expanding their operations in the Gaza Strip, including Jabalia, “to target terrorists and strike Hamas infrastructure.”

The Jabalia camp was the target of an Israeli bombing in early November, which lasted three days and caused the death of over 200 people, as announced by the Hamas government.
