Oppenheimer continues to dominate the Italian box officewith a volume of income reminiscent of climbing Barbie when it hit theaters on July 20 last year. On Friday 25 August, Christopher Nolan’s film earned €1,151,663, reaching a total of €5,131,350 on the third day of the standings (data from Cinetel). In the top ten of the Italian box office we find on the podium ghost house in second place and Barbie on the third. They follow Shark 2 – Abyss, Blue beetle, The wind is getting stronger, Worst days, Elementals, beautiful summer AND Indiana Jones and the Quadrant of Destiny (Full rating can be viewed here). If the numbers hold up, Oppenheimer could end his first weekend in excess of €9m.

Oppenheimer (here is a review and here is an explanation of the great ending) became Film by Christopher Nolan with the best box office in Italy. The previous post belonged to Rise of the dark knight the total amount of which, after three days of consideration of the invoice, amounted to 3,255,103 euros. The situation also remains excellent at the international box office, with a total gross of $725,697,017 million at the time of writing. A truly standout figure: a monumental three-hour piece full of concepts and dialogue, the film is rated PG-17 in the US.

The latest work, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, is an adaptation of the biography Oppenheimer: The Triumph and Fall of the Inventor of the Atomic Bomb signed by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. Cillian Murphy stars in the lead roles, joined by an all-star cast that includes, among others, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek and Kenneth Branagh.
