Free HIV testing and counseling space launched in Trelew

Starting Wednesday 20 September, the Women, Gender and Diversity Coordinating Center will be hosting a counseling space on HIV. Syphilis testing analysis will also be carried out at the testing site, which is located in the Diversity and Gender Directorate (DDG) on the first floor of the bus terminal.

The test is confidential, free, does not require a doctor’s order, and results are available within 20 minutes. It can be done between 8:30 am and 1:30 pm and does not require fasting.

DDG nurse Sandra Neicul explains, “Prior to testing, we conduct a brief counseling session to provide people with information about sexually transmitted infections and the treatments they can receive if they test positive. The idea is that those undergoing analysis People can get their results calmly and without fear in a safe and friendly place.”

Neicul said the work was carried out in conjunction with the Epidemiological Pathology Service of the Regional Hospital in Trelew: “The aim is to be able to reach as many people as possible.
