Are you new to La Spezia Fantasy?
“Yes. The organizer Gianluca Geraci contacted me: he was missing the mascot, the little mermaid Ariel, and he thought of contacting me, knowing my passion for costumes. So I got to work: I was inspired by a Disney character. I’m revisiting it in a personal way. However, I don’t consider myself a dedicated cosplayer: I like to give a historical twist by using beautiful fabrics, but still breaking away from the character.”
Moreover, it thus goes towards a circular economy.
“I believe so much in the art of restoration that I constantly recycle materials: for me it is an additional incentive to give life to things that would otherwise be thrown away. A true environmental mission to protect the planet. Plus, you save money and stimulate the mind to create new things from what is available.”
There are not many young people who know how to sew today.
“I took a course at Dialma Ruggiero and draw regularly, although I must say that most of the time I do sketches for my costumes because I already have the sketches in my head. Ideas arise while I’m making them. I’m rather new to the world of comics, but since I like disguises, I give free rein to my imagination.”
But it doesn’t end there, because she was also the main character of several filming dedicated to this event.
“I have been immortalized in some official photographs; I am a member of the non-profit association “Free to See” as a model. I’ve been collaborating with them for over a year now on historical costumes or costumes inspired by fictional characters for shoots.”
Which of the two versions do you prefer?
“I would say they overlap: I enjoy wearing clothes as much as seeing them on others, especially when the person proves they know their character.”
On social media, when photos stolen from the shoot surfaced, many praised her appearance as a “normal” model. What do you think?
“Well, physique matters up to a certain point: you don’t need to be perfect, on the contrary, to be part of Ursula, for example, you need to be in the flesh. Just think of Charlize Theron getting ugly. play a role (she means the movie “Monster”, ed.).”
