Homicides down 8.86% in September – Diario de Centro América

Platform latest report Home Office Bulletin on crime statistics (Pladeic) (mingob)showing a decrease in the number of homicides in September 2023 compared to the previous period.

According to official data, 247 people died last month, a decrease of 8.86% from 271 in August.

These results are the result of initiatives promoted by the Home Office through: National Civil Police (national committee)There were 9,823 positive incidents reported during the previous period, including 3,514 arrests and the seizure of 271 firearms and one grenade.

On the other hand, a total of 321 raids were carried out, 256 mobile phones used in criminal activities were seized, and 3 criminal gangs including extortion, murder, and fraud were uncovered.

In terms of prevention, 13 community committees were established and 16,329 people were trained on issues such as combating firearms, drug use and peaceful resolution of conflicts. In addition, 2,258 patrols were conducted near educational centers and 19 safe public spaces were established to promote coexistence.
