‘I care deeply about winning games’

Buffalo Bills star quarterback Josh Allen has been one of the best quarterbacks at his position in the NFL since making his first Pro Bowl following the 2020 season. Allen ranks among the top quarterback tiers because of his unique combination of passing and running in a solid frame.

While Allen won’t miss games in part because he’s long and strong, that doesn’t stop others from saying he needs to run less so he doesn’t meet his fate every time he runs the football. However, Allen has made it clear many times over the years that his ability to run a team at quarterback is important to the Bills winning games.

It’s one thing for Allen to say this to reporters and members of the media at a press conference. It’s a different story for Tom Brady, considered by many to be the greatest player in NFL history.

Allen recently appeared on Brady’s “Let’s Go!” During the podcast, the two discussed Allen’s campaign. Brady had this to say:

“I’d like to see Josh save those for very special moments and special occasions to run the ball instead of running the ball on second-and-6 six minutes into the game. It’s not that he shouldn’t run the ball, It’s about when he’s running, (expletive) sliding and making sure no one hits you, because I don’t want to see him get hurt, I want to see him out there playing because he’s such a (expletive) stud. … I’d like to see him play another 10 to 12 years and really see how he can maximize his potential.”

Brady made some good points about Allen protecting his body until the moment it was absolutely necessary for him to run, but Allen responded:

“He (Brady) is right, I’m not saying he’s wrong, but you can get hurt in the pocket just as much as you can get hurt outside of the pocket. That’s my only warning about it. … You have to go Winning a football game, sometimes that requires me to do things like put my life on the line for my teammates because I love my teammates so much and I see them working their butts off. … That’s what I’m passionate about It’s a hard place to stop because I care so much about winning football games and sometimes that leads to a little bit more risk than reward.”
