Nothing seems to stop Khaite’s rise. Still little known to the general public, the young New York label founded in 2016 by Catherine Holstein, which is increasingly talked about in the United States, announces the arrival of a new partner. We are talking about Stripes, a New York private equity company, which will support the brand in its new phase of expansion.

The announcement comes after Catherine Holstein was named “Women’s Ready-to-Wear Designer of the Year” at the 2022 CFDA Awards (the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s awards) and just opened her first flagship store in New York, in the Soho neighborhood. The brand has so far benefited from the support of Assembled Brands, its majority shareholder, a brand incubator founded by Adam Pritzker and Vanessa Traina, two experts in the world of business and the fashion sector.

The amount of the investment has not been made public. Stripes limits itself to defining on its website Khaite as a brand in which it invested in 2023. The company, which specializes in software and consumer goods brands, already has some fashion brands in its investment portfolio, such as the workwear specialist Brunt , the Swiss sports footwear company On Running and the American underwear brand Parade.

Within a few years Khaite has established itself on the New York catwalks as one of the new cool brands to follow closely. Thirty-year-old Catherine Holstein, who has worked for Gap, Vera Wang, J. Crew, Maiyet and The Elder Statesman, among others, has been able to conquer with her minimalist style with an elegant and casual spirit, reworking basics and classics with impeccable cuts and irresistible.

In particular, some of his products, ranging from clothing to shoes, bags and accessories, have become real cult items, such as cashmere cardigans or Japanese canvas jeans. Among her audience, she can count on a wealthy New York clientele and various celebrities, from Katie Holmes to Kendall Jenner. Presenting itself as the new emblematic brand of American chic, Khaite would already exceed 100 million dollars (94 million euros), according to the American press.
