Is John Wick 5 safe or not? Are Keanu Reeves and the director still thinking about it?

It’s almost time for the arrival in Italian cinemas of John Wick 4, from 23 March in theaters. Yet until some time ago John Wick 5 seemed taken for granted, even to be shot simultaneously with the fourth act. It wasn’t like this: is there already a project for the fifth chapter?

Now that John Wick 4 with Keanu Reeves is almost in Italian cinemas – will be released on March 23rd – some fans remember well that until some time ago a John Wick 5 had almost been announced: it was even said that the fourth and fifth acts would be turn around together by the director Chad Stahelski. We don’t know if this project has been shelved also due to the considerable duration of the fourth chapter (170 minutes), but it is legitimate to ask Stahelski, as The Hollywood Reporter did, if the preliminary work on John Wick 5 are actually already underway.

John Wick 5, director Chad Stahelski: “Keanu and I are taking a break”

With John Wick 4 upcoming at the cinema, the director Chad Stahelski he can’t do it for now to face the topic John Wick 5, even if we all take a little for granted that it will exist. On the other hand the saga is about to receive it spin off Dancer with Ana de Armas (where it will appear in a cameo Keanu Reeves), as well as the TV series The Continental for Universal’s Peacock platform. Material from “wickverse” in short, it will not be missing in the coming years, but as regards the central adventures of the now cult character, Chad and Keanu want catch my breath.

The way we see it, Keanu and I are done for now. We’ll take a break from John Wick. I’m sure the studio has a plan. If everyone loves the movie and it goes great, we’ll take a minute to think about it calmly. The last country the Wick movies come out in, for some strange reason, is always the Japan. (…) If it’s the same this time, we’ll do a Japanese tour and the film will be released there in September. Keanu and I are going to go all the way to Tokyo, we’re going to sit at the Imperial Hotel Scotch Bar and we’re like, ‘Well, what do you say?’ We’ll have a couple of 20-year-old whiskeys and jot down some ideas on napkins. If these ideas make sense, maybe we’ll make a movie. (…) But Wick are very intense, I like being part of them, I even tried to be a multitasking director, to work on one while preparing the nextbut I can not make it. That’s why they start to distance themselves.
