Emma Watson once explained why she turned down a role in La La Land. The Oscar-winning musical film was supposed to star the former Harry Potter star, but the main roles eventually went to Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling. Stone won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2017 for her role in Mia.
Watson revealed to SiriusXM presented by Entertainment Weekly the reason why she dropped out of the film. This was due to difficulties in planning her upcoming feature film, a live-action version of Beauty and the Beast.
She said: “It’s one of those frustrating things where names are attached to projects very early on to create anticipation or excitement about something happening before anything is actually agreed or set in stone “
The British actress said her work on the remake of Beauty and the Beast, which was filmed in London, made it impossible for her to work on both projects. She continued: “I knew I had horse training, I knew I had dancing, I knew I had three months of singing ahead of me and I knew I needed to be in London to really do it. And it wasn’t a movie. I could have just come. I knew I had to do the work and be where I needed to be. So scheduling conflicts just didn’t work out.”
