LeBron James is about to begin his 21st season in the NBA, but his desire to win is as high as ever. No matter the situation, LeBron always strives for greater success, and he has been the leader of the Los Angeles Lakers over the past few seasons.
From playing on a championship team to missing the playoffs, James has witnessed it all in the league. The only constant is that he always works with his team and teammates in order for them to reach their full potential, which is why it’s safe to call him one of the best leaders in the NBA.
In fact, that’s exactly what NBA general managers are calling him, as LeBron was recently named the league’s top leader in NBA.com’s 2023-24 NBA General Manager Survey. James received 27% of the vote, narrowly beating out Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who received 23% of the vote.
While some believe he may not be the most popular player in league history, there is no denying that James is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. He recently surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, and he is one of two players to win the NBA Finals MVP award four times, joining Michael Jordan in six. The six-time Finals MVP is clearly in the lead.
LeBron has been through the ups and downs and led his team to the NBA Finals even though they weren’t the league or the most talented team in the league. He helped the Cleveland Cavaliers reach the Finals in four consecutive seasons from 2015-2018, and James most recently helped the Lakers win their 18th championship in 2020.
Just last season, King James led the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals, where they were eventually swept by the Denver Nuggets, who went on to win the 2023 NBA Finals.
At 38 years old, LeBron is still redefining longevity in professional sports and has only one thing on his mind: winning another championship.
Just shy of that goal a year ago, James and the Lakers will once again focus on making sure the Larry O’Brien Trophy returns to Los Angeles.
