Variety reports it, according to which Jenna Ortega would be in talks to play the daughter of the famous Lydia Deetz, which as those who saw the 1988 original will recall, starred Winona Ryder. If confirmed, this would mark her second work with Tim Burton, who she executive produced on Wednesday and directed four of the first season’s eight episodes.

Beetlejuice 2 it has been in the works for some time and the first rumors date back to 2013, when Michael Keaton and Tim Burton started talking about a possible sequel. The original Beetlejuice centers on Charles (Jeffrey Jones), Delia (Catherine O’Hara) and Lydia Deetz (Ryder), a married couple who inhabit a house formerly occupied by the Maitlands (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), present as ghosts . The Maitlands died in a car accident, but nevertheless they want to re-inhabit their old home even if they are in ethereal form, and to do so they decide to recruit Beetlejuice (Keaton), a “bio-exorcist”, to scare the Deetzes.
Beetlejuice was critically acclaimed and was able to gross $74 million in North America, on a $15 million budget.
