Although the Thunder defeated the Lakers 110-133, Josh Guidy’s week could have gotten worse as he was posterized after LeBron James accused him of being involved in an inappropriate relationship.
The 38-year-old James dunked over Oklahoma City’s 21-year-old Australian guard in the second quarter of Thursday night’s game at Paycom Center as the Thunder led by eight points (52-60).
A Spectrum SportsNet commentator for the Lakers said: “LeBron’s got a head of steam…here comes the tray, down the track, throw it down, ‘LeBron.'” NBA champion.
Gidey finished with 14 points and nine rebounds against Los Angeles, not exactly tripping up while James was doing well, but for the Thunder’s No. 3, little was gained by the team’s own fans. of support, which is bad enough.
The embarrassing highlight came a day after the Newport Beach, Calif., police department said its detectives were investigating allegations that the sixth overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft had an inappropriate relationship with an underage girl.
Last week, an anonymous social media user said in a since-deleted post that the girl seen with Giddy in pornographic videos and photos was a high school student at the time. The social media account has been deactivated.
In October, Giddy reached what is known in the United States as “the age of majority.”
Newport Beach police said in a news release that they are “actively seeking additional information related to these charges and pursuing all leads and evidence to understand the facts of the case.”
NBA spokesman Mike Bass said Wednesday that the league’s investigation is ongoing.
“We are aware of reports of an investigation by the Newport Beach Police Department,” he said. “We are continuing to gather information.”
A teenager at the center of an inappropriate relationship has refused to cooperate with police.
Giddey is at risk of losing a $40 million Weet-Bix sponsorship and has so far declined to comment on the matter. Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault had no comment ahead of Tuesday’s game against Minnesota, although he did say in the past that the player whose agent had just been fired was entitled to play until the investigation was concluded.
The Thunder did not immediately respond to The Daily Mail’s request for comment Thursday.
Guidy averaged 12 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, leading the Thunder to a 12-6 start. He has started all three games since being charged – losses to the Philadelphia 76ers and Minnesota Timberwolves before a win over the Lakers.
He was mostly cheered when he started at home against Philadelphia, but was booed and heckled on the road against Minnesota.
