During an appearance on James’ Amazon Prime Video show “TNF in the Store” on Thursday, the Los Angeles Lakers player was asked how he felt about potentially no longer being the most famous sports star in the northeastern part of the state.
“Listen, sometimes you’ve got to give the crown to the next guy,” James said with a laugh about his fellow Ohioan. “What’s going on with Travis right now, and the Swifties, I think I’ll give him the crown.”
James added: “He deserves it now.”

James, of course, was referring to the recent media frenzy surrounding the Kansas City Chiefs player’s rumored romance with Swift.
The “Anti-Hero” singer got fans excited when he attended a Chiefs game last month. Television cameras captured Swift, wearing a Chiefs jacket, cheering from a box at Missouri’s Arrowhead Stadium with Kelce’s mother, Donna Kelce.

Earlier this month, Travis Kelce addressed the NFL’s apparent focus on his relationship with Swift on his “New Heights” podcast.
He said he believed the league’s coverage of their alleged affair was “a little over the top,” adding that he believed the NFL had been “trying to have fun with it.”
