A great awareness-raising event on donation, an engaging and exciting concert-show entirely dedicated to the citizens of the Veronese plain area, to the commitment of healthcare personnel and to the many families who have lived the experience of donating corneas. It is the event promoted by the Banca degli Occhi del Veneto Foundation, the Regional Coordination for Transplants of the Veneto and Ulss 9 Scaligera in collaboration with the Municipality of Legnago, which will see refined energy on stage on Saturday 15 April at 20.30 at the Teatro Salieri and engaging by the “Vocal Skyline” in a show full of voices, words, hands, lights, with video effects and choreography, all dedicated to the gift.

The event was presented today in Legnago, in the town hall, by the mayor, Graziano Lorenzetti: «We are honored to host this evening of thanksgiving and awareness. I must say that the Veneto Region is always in the front row when it comes to helping organizations outside the territory, especially in an area where coordination between institutions is essential. Last year, thanks to the Foundation, a thousand interventions were carried out abroad, in 20 countries. A special thought goes to the donor families who have changed the lives of many people”.

“Saturday’s concert aims to thank all the healthcare personnel involved and all the families who, despite having experienced a moment of great pain, wanted to donate the corneas of their loved ones, allowing the recipients to regain independence and well-being”, he said. added the councilor for social policies, Orietta Bertolaso.

«We are grateful for the generosity of this territory and for the invaluable work of all the health workers who support the bereaved families in the hospitals, to propose the donation. A delicate task, made up of professionalism and great sensitivity, which allows us to improve the quality of life of thousands of patients waiting for a transplant every year. Our thanks also go to all the institutions that have collaborated to offer this concert, a sign of gratitude and sharing of the value of the gift”, said Diego Ponzin, medical director of the Banca degli Occhi del Veneto Foundation, a non-profit organization and regional center referral for corneal donation and transplantation.

Approximately 5,000 ocular tissues donated to hospitals throughout the Veneto region arrive in the laboratories of the Banca degli Occhi Foundation, which is based in Mestre. Thanks to the generosity of the Veronese plain, 230 corneas were collected and processed in the last year, a growing figure. As confirmed by Denise Signorelli, health director of Ulss 9 Scaligera: «In 2022, 130 eye tissues were collected at the Mater Salutis Hospital in Legnago and 4 were donated to the city’s rest home, an overall figure that is up compared to the 128 total tissues collected there. previous year, thanks to the work of the Hospital Coordination for Transplants directed by Alessandra Da Ros, coordinator of the large area. The budget was also stable at the San Bonifacio hospital where 71 corneas were donated against 76 in 2021 in the donation activity coordinated by Dr. Silvia Raveani. The number of corneas collected at the Bussolengo hospital also increased to 25, compared to 14 the previous year, thanks to the work of the team led by Dr. Silvia Bassanini».

Thanks to the territory will therefore pass through the music of “Vocal Skyline” in an event that is much more than a simple “concert”. Their repertoire spans the most diverse musical genres: from international pop-rock to classic polyphony, from 80s pop masterpieces signed by Mike Oldfield, Genesis, Cyndi Lauper, Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears, Abba, to the contemporary ones of Coldplay, Pentatonix or Justin Timberlake, passing through musicals (Hair, Les Miserables, La la land…). To create the show about thirty young, brilliant and talented voices accompanied by piano, bass and drums and the charisma of a director who also escapes any type of classification: Marco Toso Borella is a painter on Murano glass, writer and historical researcher, singer, arranger and composer
