Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo?Former Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro makes his choice

Former Ballon d’Or winner Fabio Cannavaro has given his thoughts on the Lionel Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo goat battle. The Italian was asked to choose between two iconic footballers and he backed the Portuguese superstar and Al Nasr superstar.

Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo continue to divide football players and fans. Both men are in the twilight of their careers, but it doesn’t look like the dispute is going to end anytime soon.

Another big name, Fabio Cannavaro, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2006, joins a host of other football icons in choosing a side in this fierce competition.

In a short video posted by CristianoXtra on Twitter, the former Real Madrid center back was asked to choose between Ronaldo and Messi, and he responded:

“Ronaldo.”

Despite being in their late thirties, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are still huge forces to be reckoned with in the world of football. The two legendary attackers are still delivering decisive performances for their respective clubs and countries.

The Portuguese guided Al Nasr to the Arab Club Champions League in the summer and finished as top scorer with six goals. He has 14 goals and 7 assists for Al Nassr in 13 games in all competitions so far this season.

Lionel Messi has also taken MLS by storm after switching to Inter Miami in the summer. The Argentinian led the club to win the League Cup, beating Nashville in the final in August, claiming their first trophy. So far, he has played 14 games for the club, contributing 11 goals and 5 assists.

Lionel Messi will win Ballon d’Or again this year, but Cristiano Ronaldo misses out

Lionel Messi is leading the race for the 2023 Ballon d’Or after leading his country to victory at the FIFA World Cup last year. According to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Argentinian will beat Manchester City forward Erling Haaland to win the Ballon d’Or for a record eighth time this year.

Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, is absent from the race for the honor. For the first time since 2003, the Portuguese maestro failed to make the 30-man shortlist. He will likely watch as his eternal rival overtakes him again and widens the gap further.

France Football will announce the winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or on Monday (October 30) at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris.
