Lizzo definitely crossed something off her weekend bucket list. A fan of Incubus since she was a teenager, the 35-year-old musician got the chance to perform alongside the Californian rock band during their Friday (October 6) concert at the Hollywood Bowl, after which she shared her excitement on Instagram.
“Those who know me… KNOW,” the star wrote, sharing a video of herself passionately playing the flute next to vocalist Brandon Boyd during “Aqueous Transmission.” “This is beyond dreams and a COMPLETE CIRCLE.”
“20 years ago I saw @incubusofficial perform at @woodlandspavilion for matinee viewing (I’ve been a fan since SCIENCE),” she continued. “And now to be at @hollywoodbowl performing Aqueous Transmission with @sashabefluting – I WAS A PUDDLE ON THE FLOOR – thank you INCUBUS for everything and for having me on stage and making my childhood dreams come true 💖💖💖💖”
Lizzo later shared footage of her performing at the concert with friends in the audience, as well as one clip of herself posing for photos with Boyd and bandmates Mike Einziger, Chris Kilmore, Jose Pasillas and Nicole Rowe. (Rowe replaced bassist Ben Kenny on this year’s Incubus tour.) “I DID NOT COME 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫😫,” the “Truth Hurts” artist captioned the post.
“Thank you @lizzobeeating for joining us at the Bowl,” Incubus said in an Instagram post. “It was an honor to share the stage with you. 🪈🥂”
The Hollywood Bowl marked the official end of the 2023 Incubus Tour, which featured Paris Jackson and BADFLOWER. The band will perform at SEMA Fest in Las Vegas in November before touring Australia in 2024.
Lizzo wrapped up her special tour in July after 10 months of performances in North America and Europe. In August, she was sued by a group of former dancers who alleged hostile work conditions and sexual harassment. The Grammy winner has emphatically called the allegations “false” and “sensational.” A couple of weeks ago, Lizzo filed a petition to have the case dismissed by a judge.
