Several former Manchester United players performed well behind the goals as Al Nasr secured second place in the Saudi Professional League with a thumping win over Al Wida on Saturday.
Former Manchester United star Alex Telles wowed Cristiano Ronaldo with a stunning free-kick in Al Nasser’s recent win against Al Vehda.
The current Saudi Professional League runners-up won 3-1 away from home on Saturday, their 10th victory in 13 games to start the season. That leaves them four points behind current leaders Hilal.
Former Red Devil Telles scored with a brilliant free-kick. Al Nasr won a free kick early in the game. Telles was joined by Ronaldo and Anderson Talisca on the ball, with the former looking as if he was going to give it a try himself.
Instead, Telles took the responsibility and scored with a brilliant left-foot shot. It was the 30-year-old’s first goal for Al Nasr since leaving Manchester United for Saudi Arabia.
Just a week before his goal, he explained how the club decides who takes the free-kicks. “When Cristiano has the ball (free kick) it’s easy,” Tells admitted. “We let him decide whether he wants to bat or not. Obviously, it depends on the position.
“Cristiano likes to hit certain areas of the court. I like to practice a lot. (Anderson) Talisca also likes to practice a lot, so we always talk about it.

“For example, in the last game, Talisca asked me if I wanted to take a free kick, but I saw that he was also very confident, so this time Talisca took it. I will take it next time.
“So I believe there is a positive relationship between us and I think it’s also good for us not to be egotistical and not jealous. Everybody is in it to win, everybody is on the same path. So I think the opportunity will come.
“If Ronaldo doesn’t accept it, Talisca will accept it, and if he doesn’t accept it, I will accept it. The club wins because it has a lot of good free-kick takers. Our goal is obviously to win everything.”

Abdullah Amri doubled Al Naser’s lead over Alvida minutes before half-time. Although he failed to take the free kick, Ronaldo still had time to score.
He benefited from a poor header on the counterattack to score his 13th goal of the season and 30th for Al Nasr since his explosive exit from Manchester United. The experienced forward will be available during the international break after being named in Roberto Martinez’s latest Portugal squad.
The 2016 European champions will aim to continue their perfect start and qualify for next summer’s tournament. Portugal has eight wins so far against Liechtenstein and Iceland.
