Marion Bartoli thinks Coco Gauff’s US Open win a year after Serena Williams retired is “a fairy tale” and hints the 19-year-old American will win at the Grand Slam achieve more success. “Yeah, it’s crazy. I mean, honestly, they’re the reason I’m getting this trophy today. They made me believe in this dream growing up. You know, black tennis players who dominate this sport and not much.
Indeed, when I was young, they were all I could remember. Apparently, more people are coming because of their heritage. So that makes the dream more believable. But all the things they had to go through, it makes it easier for guys like me to do it,” Goff said after winning the U.S. Open.
