Metiska was torn to pieces: a desperate mistress demands justice

The desperate family did everything to protect him, but unfortunately there was nothing they could do.

He adopted him when he was still a puppy and no one wanted him because he was sick. And since then, she has never stopped loving him. She is desperate Janina Torres, the owner of Ulysses, a small dog who died from horrific injuries sustained by a neighbor’s dog that got out of her control. The events took place in an apartment building on Via Giotto in Monza.

Metis maimed

“It was a day like any other, and around 15:00 my 14-year-old daughter took Ulysses, put him on a leash and took him for a walk,” the woman reconstructed in a voice broken from tears. “After the ride, she returned home. There is no elevator in our building, so he always walked up the stairs with our dog on a leash.” However, going up to the second floor, she noticed that one of the tenants had the door open. “At that moment, my daughter froze. Knowing that she has a big dog, we always ask her to keep the door closed. Unfortunately, he left it open that day. My daughter asked her to close it, but it was not done in time.” In just a few moments, the dog, a Belgian Shepherd and Pit Bull mix, ran off, immediately aiming at the small and frightened Ulysses.

terrible attack

“He grabbed him by the neck,” Torres explained, weeping. “My daughter managed to free him for a moment, but he immediately grabbed him again, dragging him, still by the neck, into the yard.” Immediately, the whole Ulysses family and other people from the surrounding area rushed to the aid of the half-breed. “Seven of us tried to pull him out of the bite, but his jaw had indescribable strength. In an attempt to save Ulysses, my 17-year-old son was also bitten.” A desperate fight in which the dog struggled to resist. But then he had to give up.
“He was exhausted,” she continued, still shaken, “At some point he had to give up.” Ulysses was lifeless when his family rushed him to the veterinary clinic on Via Messa. “I asked them to do everything to save him, but they said that the injuries received as a result of the attack were too serious. And so we had to euthanize him forever.” The clinic’s report left no other choice. “Serious damage to the cervical region of the neck, skin wounds compatible with a bite at the level of the neck and in the ventral region of the neck,” the documentation issued by the veterinary clinic says. “Jugular vein injuries have been reported and spinal cord injuries have not been ruled out.”

Ulysses did not survive

The decision to proceed with euthanasia was more than painful. “Ulysses has been with us for 8 years, ever since I worked as a caretaker in a house on Via Cavallotti, and the landlord found him on the street when he was a few months old. Nobody wanted him because he was sick, but I had no doubts. I adopted him and loved him very much. He should have died of old age, not like this.”
The problem, he explains, “was bad management. It’s not the dog’s fault. Indeed, I will say, I always felt bad about it. We often heard him crying and my son took him for walks several times. These are dogs that need attention and love, not to grow up in a house. This is the result of mishandling it. He mortally wounded my Ulysses, and the hostess did not even apologize. We all in the family loved our little dog. The only consolation is that he lived to the end surrounded by our love.
