Michael Jordan makes rare return to United Center in Chicago, but not with Bulls

It’s been several years since Michael Jordan returned to the United Center in Chicago. Regardless, the six-time champion’s belated days may soon be over, but not for the Bulls.Recently, the famous NBA team held its first ring of honor‘Celebrating the most important member of their history. Jordan was expected to attend, but unfortunately, the 61-year-old Jordan was unable to make the trip. Well, he now has another chance, this time in honor of his best friend from the National Hockey League.

Mark your calendars for February 25th, because Chris Chelios’ No. 7 jersey will be retired by the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center. The three-time Stanley Cup champion proudly announced that he would work to woo all the influential people in his life to compete for the honor. One of them is our beloved Jordan, who is expected to step foot in the United Center again. Chelios revealed that Jordan played an important role in the early stages of his career.

I once shared, “I’m going to ask them to bring in as many people as they can who have had an impact on me, and obviously (Jordan) was a big part of me in the ’90s.” Chelios joined the Blackhawks in 1990 and played nine years with Chicago. Their first meeting was at a baseball game, where both men came to support the White Sox. Over the next few years, they continued to be comrades, but in different alliances.

In 1992, Jordan and Chelios led the team to the Finals. Jordan took home the trophy, but Chelios failed to do so after losing to the Pittsburgh Penguins. In later years, the 11-time All-Star failed to win a Stanley Cup for Chicago. However, his contribution to the city was outstanding.

In honor of the incredible things his friend Chelios did, Jordan will be on hand most of the time.

When was the last time Michael Jordan was at the United Center?

It has been almost 14 years since Jordan returned to his home. He last appeared on the scene in June 2010, and this time it wasn’t for the Chicago Bulls either. I joined a large crowd for Game 5 between the Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers. The next game, the Blackhawks took home a trophy nearly fifty years later.
