Michael Jordan is scheduled to attend Blackhawks legend Chris Chelios’ jersey retirement ceremony in Chicago on Sunday, a month after he was oddly absent from the combine amid friction with former teammate Scottie Pippen Bulls Ring of Honor Ceremony at Center.

Chelios revealed the news during an interview on WSCR-AM 670’s “Mully and Haugh Show” on Wednesday.

“I’m going to have them try to bring in all the people that have had an impact on me, obviously (Jordan) was a big part of my ’90s,” Chelios said. “They’re going to be here to support me. In my I’ve had a pretty good Rolodex over my career, so I’m loading it up. This is one last hurray and I’m going to make it even better.

Jordan and Chelios grew closer during their respective playing days in Chicago, so it was no surprise to see the Bulls legend witness the retirement of the retired guard’s No. 7 jersey.

Oddly, Jordan took a rare moment to show up at his former workplace after skipping the Bulls ceremony entirely. In fact, both Jordan and Pippen missed the festivities at the United Center in January because the former’s son Marcus continues to date the latter’s ex-wife Larsa.

Both six-time NBA champions notified the team in advance but did not publicly state the reasons for their absences. Jordan recorded a video about it and played it for guests at the gala in Chicago.

“I’m sorry I can’t be here tonight,” Jordan said in the video, which was shared on the team’s social media accounts. “Believe me, I’m very grateful and very honored.”

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, retired Bulls power forward Dennis Rodman also missed the event, and his absence was actually a surprise.

Sunday’s jersey retirement will take place before the Eagles take on the rival Detroit Red Wings, Chelios’ other former team.

Additionally, the Red Wings roster includes Patrick Kane, who is returning to Chicago after winning three Stanley Cups with the Blackhawks.

Jordan is no stranger to hockey.

The Charlotte Hornets minority owner and NASCAR co-owner, who previously owned 12% of the Washington Capitals, said he was impressed after seeing his friend Mario Lemieux play with the Pittsburgh Penguins. After doing the same thing with the Pittsburgh Penguins, he was inspired to make a comeback with the NBA’s Washington Wizards. January 2000.

Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant and Luke Longley speak at 2024 NBL MVP Awards Night

Meanwhile, Pippen is scheduled to make a series of public appearances in Australia with his former Bulls teammates Horace Grant and Luke Longley to discuss Jordan, the Bulls’ six NBA championships, and more about the franchise ‘s controversial ESPN documentary “The Last Dance.”

In partnership with the Australian National Basketball League, the “No Bull” tour will kick off in Tasmania on Friday before heading to Melbourne and Sydney.

The three former Bulls players recently appeared at the NBL Awards in Melbourne, the birthplace of the 55-year-old Longley.

Pippen is a Hall of Famer and a member of all six Bulls championship teams. Grant won three championships in Chicago before moving to Orlando as a free agent in 1994, when Longley joined the Bulls and helped the club win its second three-peat in a decade.

The No Bull tour is expected to revive recent criticism of the documentary, which Pippen and other former Bulls felt was favorable to Jordan, who reportedly negotiated a “final cut” of the project.

“I would say (the documentary) is interesting, but we know as teammates that about 90 percent of it is bullshit,” Grant said on ESPN 1000’s Kap and Co podcast in 2020.

“That’s not true – because (Jordan) said a lot of things to some of his teammates, and his teammates came back to him. But all of that was taken out of the documentary, if you want to call it a documentary. .”

Grant went on to reveal that the last time he communicated with Jordan via text message was three years ago, with tensions between the two rising when Jordan accused Grant of leaking information from the infamous “Jordan Rules” book to journalist Sam Smith. Touched during the series. 1992.

The book aroused a lot of interest in Jordan at the time, arguably for the first time in his career at that stage, which is reflected less impressively in some chapters.

Pippen and Jordan have been feuding since ESPN released “The Last Dance,” the 2020 documentary about the 1997-98 Bulls, and things came to a head when Jordan’s adult son Marcus began dating Pippen’s ex-wife Larsa gets worse.
