In 2021, Spider-Man: No Way Home is the first time Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have teamed up in the highly anticipated Phase 4 chapter. This year, Miles returned as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and became one of the biggest hits ever. 2023, which also included cameos with Garfield and Maguire.
As the Spider-Verse films cross the line between animation and live action, fans are now more than ever looking forward to seeing a true crossover between the franchises. Will Miles Morales ever be adapted for live performance?
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is considered the end of the Miles saga as the trilogy draws to a close. The question is whether Miles will make his live debut after his animated franchise ends. Whether it’s the MCU or Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, it looks like Sony Pictures has plans for Miles live.
Amy Pascal, who has worked on every Spider-Man movie in the past two decades, revealed in a May interview that a Miles Morales live-action film is apparently in development. This happened shortly before the SAG-AFTRA strike, which means there will be no further updates until it ends. However, the fact that Miles is working on the film is a positive sign that Sony is far from done using the character from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
As the Miles Morales movie moves forward, it will be interesting to see if Sony puts him in the MCU or if it’s a standalone movie. The organic choice would be for Miles to finally show up in the MCU and eventually replace Holland’s Spider-Man when the latter is ready to step down from the role.
