Miley Cyrus’s ‘Flowers’ remains Britain’s most popular song of 2023

As the final months of 2023 approach, Miley Cyrus’ hit single ‘Flowers’ continues to hold its position as the UK’s most played song of the year, at least so far.

The Official Charts Company has published an updated ranking of the country’s most popular tracks, which is similar to the UK version Billboard. Cyrus tops the top 40, which includes British superstars, singers and bands from around the world.

Since its release in January, “Flowers” has collected a total of 1.5 million equivalent units on the charts in the UK alone. This is much less than the US, but the UK is only a small part of America, so this figure is still impressive.

The song’s undeniable success is highlighted by its outstanding success on both streaming platforms and digital downloads. In the UK, Cyrus’ hit was streamed 178 million times and bought 87,000 times. This tune is considered both the most streamed and most downloaded song of the year.

“Flowers” gave Cyrus her third number one on the UK Songs Chart, having debuted at number one in January. The track became the singer’s first chart-topper in nearly a decade since “We Can’t Stop” and “Wrecking Ball” both reached the top spot back in 2013.

The second most played song in the UK this year is ‘Escapism’ by Ray and 070 Shake. Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding’s somewhat unexpected trance hit “Miracle” is in third place. SZA’s “Kill Bill” comes in at number four, while Dave and Central Cee’s record-breaking collaboration “Sprinter” rounds out the top five.
