Ms. Marvel’s Iman Vellani appears in an incredibly colorful X-Men anniversary cosplay. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has introduced a host of legacy characters since 2019, when Avengers: Endgame marked the end of the Infinity Saga. A new generation of heroes has emerged, including Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk, and Vellani’s Ms. Marvel. After helming his own Disney+ solo series, Vellani will join the cast of The Marvels in November.
On Instagram Stories, Never Have I Ever star Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (via Pop Crave) shared a photo of herself and Vellani cosplaying at FAN EXPO Canada.
The Netflix star appears dressed as Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, while the Ms. Marvel actress gives up Kamala Khan for another Marvel hero, becoming the X-Men Anniversary. Vellani may soon have a chance to play a member of the X-Men in the MCU.
Will Ms Marvel be part of the X-Men in the MCU?
There’s a shocking moment in the latest episode of Ms. Marvel. Bruno, played by Matt Lintz, informs Kamala that he has discovered a mutation in his genes, while theme music from the iconic X-Men animated series plays in the background. The scene was placed there not by accident, but for several reasons, setting the stage for Ms. Marvel’s future role in the MCU’s X-Men history.
Recently in the comics, Ms. Marvel was killed off, but the character didn’t stay dead for long before truly returning. Having been an Inhuman throughout her existence in the comics until her death, Kamala is about to return as a mutant, fully equipped in a new take on the classic X-Men-inspired Ms. Marvel costume. When it was revealed in the MCU that Ms. Marvel was a mutant, it was revealed that the creators of her comic book had originally intended Kamala to be a mutant.
Now it seems that Ms. Marvel has every chance to play a major role in the history of the X-Men in the MCU, because not only the character is resurrected as a mutant in the comics, but also in the new comic book series Ms. Marvel: The New Mutant was co-written by someone other than Iman Vellani herself, Kamala Khan’s actress in the MCU.
