MUSICIANS ON CALL LAUNCH PROGRAM BRINGING THE HEALING POWER OF MUSIC AT HCA FLORIDA AVENTURA HOSPITAL TO CELEBRATE LAUNCH

The nation’s leading provider of live music in hospitals will offer MOC Bedside and Virtual programs for local patients, families and caregivers.

MIAMI, October 9, 2023 – Musicians On Call (MOC), a nonprofit organization that brings live and recorded music to the bedside of patients, families and caregivers in healthcare settings, hosts MOC Bedside and Virtual programs in South Florida to share the healing power of music in local facilities . . Volunteers will begin regularly visiting patients at HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, moving from room to room and speaking directly at patients’ bedsides. The hospital will also be able to join MOC’s ongoing virtual programs and enjoy 30 minutes of interactive livestream presentations from volunteers.

In honor of this expansion, Musicians On Call welcomed local artist and volunteer musician Bryant Del Toro to HCA Florida Aventura Hospital to launch these new programs and celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Representatives and management of the hospital and the musicians on duty were present to mark this special occasion. MOC also donated a commemorative Epiphone guitar to the business in honor of the partnership. Following his public appearance, Del Toro spoke one-on-one with patients.

The expansion of MOC programs is possible through a collaboration with HCA Healthcare, which included a $1 million gift to fund the creation and launch of its proprietary MOC software platform. This new platform streamlines the implementation of the MOC program, making it more efficient and allowing the organization to reach more hospital patients and healthcare providers across the country.

“By expanding our live music programs in South Florida, we are providing access to the many healing powers of music. Music has been proven to have a significant impact on the patient experience, and these programs will provide local patients, families and caregivers with a powerful and uplifting source of comfort and strength,” said Musicians On Call President and CEO Pete Griffin. “We deeply value our partnership with HCA Healthcare, whose support was instrumental in making this expansion possible. And we are grateful to Bryant Del Toro and HCA Florida Aventura Hospital for joining us in celebrating the launch. We look forward to welcoming more local volunteers to join us and bring the healing power of music.”

“HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is pleased to be the first HCA Healthcare hospital to launch the expansion of Musician on Call programs,” shared David LeMonte, CEO. “We are excited to further enrich the patient experience through live music at the bedside at our Fortune/PINC AI Top 100 Hospital. At HCA Florida Aventura, we help our patients, and now through the healing power of music, we are improving the lives of more people.”

Musicians On Call is looking for musicians and music lovers to help share the joy of live music in the Miami area as certified MOC volunteers. Volunteer musicians are professional-level local musicians who perform encouraging songs at the bedside or live during virtual programs. Volunteer guides act as the “eyes and ears” of the MOC, guiding the musician through the patient playing experience and supporting communication between families and staff, both at the bedside and virtually.
