“Novak Djokovic doesn’t get enough credit… to win 3 out of 4 Grand Slams at his age is unheard of in any sport”

Novak Djokovic recently received glowing praise from Serena Williams’ childhood coach Rick March for his achievements in 2023.

The Serbian was close to his best last year, amassing a 56-7 record on the ATP Tour and dominating the Australian Open, French Open and U.S. Open. Djokovic not only won $16 million in prize money and was crowned ITF World Champion at the end of the year, but also regained his No. 1 position in the world.

Djokovic’s achievement despite being in his thirties left a deep impression on Rick March. The famed American coach, who has worked with the likes of Maria Sharapova and Andy Roddick, paid tribute to the 24-time Grand Slam winner on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.

March claimed the 36-year-old did not get “enough credit” for his wins in three of this year’s four majors. He also insists the Serbian’s dominance will inspire many young players in the coming years.

“Believe it or not @DjokerNole You don’t get enough recognition for what he did last year. To win 3 out of 4 Grand Slams at his age is unheard of in any sport. Sniper’s rock-solid dominant performance will educate, excite and inspire every player in the rearview mirror,” Macci wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Interestingly, this is not the first time Rick March has praised Novak Djokovic. The 69-year-old expressed his admiration for the Serb’s career achievements in November.

Macci wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in November:

“@rogerfederer has the best serve in the BIG 3. @RafaelNadal has the best topspin and @DjokerNole has the best career”

He also predicted that after Djokovic wins the US Open in September, the 24-time Grand Slam winner will eventually win at least 28 major titles.

“Asked how many more Grand Slams @DjokerNole can win. If the rubber band man stays healthy, a master key to the front door of the Grand Slams, I feel like the Serbian sniper can win at least four more Grand Slams,” March wrote.

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic is currently participating in the 2024 Fed Cup. The Serbian will make his debut in the mixed team event this year. Djokovic is keen to get the best match practice ahead of this year’s Australian Open, where he has won a record 10 titles.
