On Tuesday, the health authorities opened a vaccination point for influenza and COVID-19 in the Algeciras market (Cádiz)

On Tuesday, the Gibraltar Camposista Health Management District will install a flu and coronavirus vaccination point at the Algeciras (Cádiz) market in the city’s Exposition Park. Therefore, health professionals from the region will remain at the facility from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where they will actively recruit those who may receive doses.

In a note, the Health District and the Territorial Health and Consumer Affairs Mission thanked the Algeciras City Council for its cooperation in carrying out this activity.

Likewise, he recalled that Andalusia has started this Monday the second phase of the vaccination campaign against influenza and the 2023/2024 coronavirus that started last week. Therefore, people over 70 and adults with dangerous medical conditions, highly dependent people and their professional caregivers, and pregnant women will be able to receive both vaccines. From the same date, children aged 6 to 59 months (inclusive) will also receive the flu vaccine.

The campaign began last week to vaccinate residents of residential aged care and disability centres, the general population aged 85 or over, and staff in health and social care centres, residential and disability centres.

The next phase will begin on October 30. From then on, people over the age of 60 will receive dual vaccination, and other professional groups such as security forces and prison institutions, as well as other professional groups such as veterinarians, farm workers or ranchers, will receive influenza vaccination.

The final phase will begin in December, when people aged 60 or above or those in high-risk groups at home will be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19.
