The first edition of Taormina-Naxos Archeofilm, the International Film Festival of Archaeology, Art and the Environment, starts on 14 July. Four evenings are scheduled: 14 and 16 at the Ancient Theater of Taormina, 15 and 17 at the Archaeological Park – Teatro della Nike in Giardini Naxos. Guests Donatella Bianchi, presenter of the program “Linea Blu”, Emilio Casalini, presenter of the program “Generation Beauty” and art critic Vittorio Sgarbi. Two prizes will be awarded: the “Taormina – Naxos Archeofilm” for the film most appreciated by the public and the “Sebastiano Tusa” to the person who has distinguished himself in the communication of cultural heritage.

A project of great cultural scope designed for families, children and enthusiasts of the ancient world, produced and organized by the Naxos Taormina Archaeological Park and the Tusa Foundation in collaboration with Firenze Archeofilm and Archeology Viva, which will take place over the course of four days. Offer public screenings of world-selected masterpiece films, meetings with protagonists of communication, debates and comparisons on the great civilizations of the past.

Program

Dinosaurs, Pharaohs and Trojan Horses. A journey through time and space that begins with the documentary “Jurassic Cache” (Taormina, 14/7 duration 52′) on millionaire collectors of dinosaur fossils, with a work that examines the controversial hobby that without Can give birth to bones. Several films dedicated to Sicily and shown on the big screen include: “Ancient ship of wine” (Taormina, 14/7 period 28′) on the discovery of a Roman wreck from the 2nd century BC in the bay of Isola delle Feminine, Palermo in the province; “Stromboli: A Provocative Island” (Giardini Naxos, 15/7 ep 11′) on the testimony of the first persons who inhabited the alluring, yet hostile, volcanic island.
