Pope Francis cancels event due to flu, Vatican reports

Pope Francis canceled an event scheduled for Monday morning due to persistent but mild flu symptoms, the Vatican press office said in a brief statement, clarifying that the pope did not have a fever.

The statement said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure.

Pope Francis was feeling well on Sunday, saying his weekly Angelus prayer from a Vatican window overlooking St. Peter’s Square, a day after he canceled a public audience due to mild flu-like symptoms.
