Program of the Venice Film Festival 2023

The 80th Venice International Film Festival will be held at the Lido di Venezia from 30 August to 9 September 2023 under the direction of Alberto Barbera and hosted by the Biennial under the chairmanship of Roberto Cicutto.
Like every year, participation in the Italian Film Competition will be essential. In this prestigious edition we will see Stefano Sollima competing for the Golden Lion with Adagio, the aforementioned Edoardo De Angelis with Comandante, the son of the art of Pietro Castellitto with his new director Enea, the sensibility of Saverio Costanzo with Dawn at Last, the usual craftsmanship of Matteo Garrone with **Io capita** and all the audacity of Giorgio Rights with Lubo.

The godmother of the 80th Venice Film Festival will be Italian actress Caterina Murino. She will open the event on the evening of Wednesday, August 30, 2023, on the stage of the Sala Grande (Palazzo del Cinema on the Lido) on the occasion of the opening ceremony, and will also lead the closing ceremony on Saturday, September 9. on the occasion of which the Lions and other official awards of the 80s will be announced.
