In a recent episode of the “Road Trippin'” podcast, Richard Jefferson revealed the story of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers during the 2016-17 season.
The Cavaliers face the Philadelphia 76ers in a matinee game and have the afternoon and evening off. So, the team decided to take a train to New York and go out to eat and drink. However, things didn’t go as planned.

“We had a 12 o’clock or 2 o’clock game in Philadelphia. We finished at 3 o’clock, 4 o’clock, whatever the time was,” Jefferson said.
“So, we had a full day and a full night. So we thought, ‘Oh, why don’t we take the train there? We can be in New York by seven, have some dinner, have some drinks, and then come back.”
Jefferson later revealed that the Cavaliers’ lineup experienced delays on the train tracks, causing significant delays on their way to New York. The players still went out drinking and arranged for a car to pick them up at 3:30 in the morning.
“We get in the car. It’s me, Brown, Kai (Felder), Tristan (Thompson) and Kevin (Love). “I picked them to win and I thought you were all trash,” Jefferson said. “I told them, LeBron came up and said, ‘Bald m*****f*****,’ and I appreciate that troll.
“It’s like we’re separate, but you support your kids… but it’s also like, I just decided to go against everybody.”
The Lakers ended up winning the 2020 championship, and LeBron James had the last laugh, winning his fourth NBA championship.
