Rihanna’s sensational performance at the halftime show at the last Super Bowl and during which she also announced her second pregnancy was not appreciated by all. According to US media reports, the Federal Communications Commission, a supervisory body, has received over one hundred complaints because the 13-minute show was defined as too sexual. The choreography and lyrics of the songs ended up in the viewfinder.
“This year – reads one of the complaints – the halftime show was so indecent that I was forced to turn off the TV because of the pornographic content”. Another objects that it was totally unsuitable for children.
Rihanna’s was not the only show to receive complaints, last year the performance of Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Eminem, 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar had 33, in 2020 the performance of Shakira and Jennifer Lopez exceeded 1300. But the golden palm belongs to that of Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake in 2004, when the famous accident occurred that left Jackson topless. In that case, 540,000 complaints flocked. And this year the spotlight will be on Rihanna also during the 95th edition of the Oscars which will take place on March 12th. RiRi will in fact sing ‘Lift Me Up’, one of the songs from the soundtrack of the film ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’. The song is also nominated for the ‘best original song’ category and is in competition with Lady Gaga who aspires to the statuette with ‘Hold My Hand’ from the film ‘Top Gun: Maverick’. (HANDLE).
