2013.- Former Liberian President Charles Taylor has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
2016.- The Colombian government and the FARC guerrillas signed a historic peace agreement in Cartagena, but the agreement was rejected in a referendum a month later and replaced by a new agreement in November of the same year.
2018.- Five Latin American countries and Canada have formally requested the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate Venezuela for alleged crimes against humanity.
2020.- President Donald Trump has appointed conservative Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the late progressive Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Trump made the appointment two months before the November presidential election.
2021.- Germany held a general election, ending the “Merkel Era” after 16 years in power.
2022.- NASA made history by crashing its DART spacecraft into an asteroid to change its orbit in an attempt to protect Earth from similar objects in the future.
