Serena Williams long ago added the title of “fashion icon” to her long list of accomplishments. Now, she reminds us why.
The proud mom of two dressed up for the 2023 CFDA Awards in New York City last week, where she was awarded the Style Icon Award by reality star Kim Kardashian.
The 42-year-old tennis star shared a photo of her entire outfit on Instagram. One photo in the slideshow shows Williams with her back to the camera, with the back of her dress on full display. The custom sequined dress (designed by CFDA Chairman Thom Browne) features a beautiful bodice design with black, red and white ribbons.
Meanwhile, her honey-blonde hair was styled into a ponytail, with ribbons of the same color wrapped around her long locks.
The next photo shows off the Grand Slam champion’s entire look. She accessorized the look with a David Yurman necklace/earring set and an Audemars Piguet watch.
Williams wrote in the caption: “It was an incredible night to accept the Style Icon Award from @cfda (star emoji),” Williams wrote in the caption.
Williams shared another photo slideshow on her page showing off her gorgeous looks. In one photo, the tennis player is looking down while his team surrounds her. She captioned the post: “My night with @cfda continues…”
In her acceptance speech, she talked about her love for fashion. “I explored fashion and style as a way to differentiate myself. In many ways, the tennis court became my runway,” says the professional athlete.
Williams added, “I styled the dress out of denim, I wore a purple tutu and leotards, I put beads in my hair and I did braids. “It was definitely a fun time for me. . “
This latest outing happens to be Williams’ first major event since giving birth to her second daughter, Adira, in August. Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, announced the exciting news on Instagram. Next to a photo of the new family of four, he wrote in the caption: “Welcome, Adira R. Ohanian. I’m happy to report that our house is filled with love: happy and healthy newborn girl and joy Healthy Mom.
He continued: “Grateful. @serenawilliams you have now given me another unparalleled gift – you are a GMOAT. Thank you to all the wonderful medical staff who have cared for my wife and daughter (praying emoji) I will never Forgot the moment I introduced @olympiaohanian to her little sister.”
