“Stranger Things” David Harbour: “I don’t want people to remember me just because of Hopper” | TV

David Harbor admitted that, despite his love for the series, he is looking forward to it very strange thingsin which he plays the former Sheriff Hopper, in the end he can devote himself entirely to other projects.

The actor told Insider:

During my first year on Stranger Things, I remember arguing with one publicist who said, “Maybe you don’t want to be associated with the show so much.” I replied: “Why? I love the series. I love this character.” And it’s true, I love the series and I love this character. But I don’t want to be just that character. I don’t want to be remembered just because of him.

Then the actor recalled:

I’m thinking about George Clooney leaving the emergency room. Now we see him and we just think he’s George Clooney, but there was a time when he was the “Ambulance Guy” starring in a movie with Nicole Kidman.

In fact, the Stranger Things star sees the comparison to his career as an actor and director as a good example to explain his position:

I’m trying to deal with a similar situation and it’s difficult because you don’t want to offend people who appreciate you for what you’ve done and that you love too. But at the same time, I want to leave the nest. I have more to offer within myself. I have a desire to do other things, and I want you to see it. I don’t want people shouting “Hopper” to me on the street every five minutes for the rest of my life.

What do you think of David Harbor’s desire to be remembered for more than just his role as Hopper in Stranger Things?
