Suspected hepatitis case alert in some communities of Gutierrez Zamora

Gutiérrez Zamora, cf. – (Veracruz Vanguard). – In some areas of the municipality of Gutierrez Zamora, settlers claim that some people have symptoms of hepatitis A, but so far health authorities say there are no records of the disease.

For fear of being singled out or restricted, some people who allegedly had these symptoms refused to go to the health center, however, if they tested positive for the disease and were not treated accordingly, it could have sparked a large outbreak in the town .

According to some residents of at least two communities in Cuatlan and Hidalgo, people, including minors, have experienced symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, dark stools, loss of appetite, fever, and joint pain; this is due to the submitted cases, health authorities have so far taken no action on the matter.

It is speculated that people with these symptoms may have contracted the infection through ingestion of contaminated food or water, as the heat and lack of water in some settlements meant that food was not cleaned with thorough sanitation, which may have contributed to the cases It has not been quantified so far and requires the intervention of health authorities to investigate and act accordingly.
