It’s up Seth Rogen AND Evan Goldbergwriters of naughty comedies such as Very bad AND sausage party, tasked with reinventing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the latest generation, the so-called Alpha, the daughter of social media. It’s actually a new “origin story” but the film doesn’t spend too much time establishing mythology and repeating well-known things, instead opting for a lively and fast pace.
Rogen AND Goldberg they bring a breath of fresh air by initially focusing on the “teenage” age of the turtles, contextualizing the fact that, after all, we are dealing with teenagers, with their desires, their fears and their desires. Two screenwriters update the story to the present day with constant references to the present and the past. pop cultureTeenage Mutant Ninja Turtles want to see Adele at a concert and crazy weekend in an open-air cinema. From time to time, they wink at adults with slightly more mischievous jokes that the little ones do not notice, but make the older ones smile.
The plot plays with a moral dilemma that the X-Men also suffered from, namely the need for mutants to be accepted by humans. There are those who insist on coexistence and those who would instead like to destroy humanity by applying the law of the strongest. It is basically a parable about accepting another.
But the real trump card is the amazing animation technique, it looks almost like a manga comic that comes to life before your eyes. Add to that the main soundtrack, signed Trent Reznor AND Atticus Ross and here the film acquires a value that goes far beyond commercial use. Even though it was specifically designed for a younger audience, hiring Rogen screenplay and composer caliber Reznor makes it a very entertaining film even for older people. There’s a lot to enjoy in this new version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the door is already open for possible sequels.
