American rapper and singer-songwriter Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic on suspicion of attacking his own music producers. The arrest occurred after an arrest warrant was issued on October 16, 2023. The indictment alleges that the musician assaulted two of his music producers over the weekend.
As noted by the American publication rolling stone“The National Police of the Dominican Republic has confirmed that Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was taken into custody at the Balcones del Atlántico Hotel last Sunday in the city of Sanchez. Authorities identified the alleged victims as Christian Anthony Rojas and Nelson Alfonso Hilario Garcia.”
TMZ reported that Hernandez was allegedly jealous of the time producers spent with his girlfriend and fellow artist Yaylin La Mas Viral. TMZ adds that when the rapper arrived at the studio, he may have attacked the producers. According to the Santo Domingo newspaper Free diaryYaileen was in the studio recording a song with producer Diamond La Mafia, but allegedly left before rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine arrived with four other men.
One of the producers who was apparently attacked spoke to a local Santo Domingo publication. Free diary that he had suffered a jaw injury and added that he needed surgery.
Dominican Republic today reported that authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Hernandez on Friday and that he agreed to surrender by calling police.
“There is no confirmation of rumors that the New York artist tried to leave the country on a private jet to escape the police,” writes Charisma Madarang in the American publication Rolling stone.
Last March, Hernandez was hospitalized after suffering a seizure at a gym in South Florida. Hernandez’s lawyer said NBC News that the rapper had cuts and bruises on his face.
“In 2019, Hernandez pleaded guilty to armed robbery and other federal racketeering charges as part of a justice deal that prompted him to testify against the Nine Trey Gangsters,” we read further.
