The future of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Freshman Year

In early October, the release date of Spider-Man: Freshman Year, a new animated series about the legendary man Aranya from Marvel Studios and Sony, which will be released on Disney Plus in 2024, was confirmed.

Based on Space Circus, the series aims to explore the parallel life of the Marvel Extended Universe’s (UCM) Spider-Man with Tom Holland before Civil War. Without an embargo, this will not be included in the project.

The production returns to the graphic design of the classic comics, so in this sense the actors will have to embody the voice of each of the figures included in Peter Parker’s special story in a supporting role.

There are some references from UCM, such as the voice of Charlie Cox interpreting both “Daredevil”, who has been in the flesh since 2015, and Paul F. Tompkins as “Bentley Wittman/Wizard”.

However, this success will not be the same for Holland due to the fact that in this new phase of the company he will not have the voice of the teenage version of the little green man.

Next in the series will appear Hudson Thames, who gave life to “Spider” in one of the episodes of the popular series “What Will Happen to…?” The star, known for films such as The A-List and Dry Bone, will share roles with Eugene Bird, Hugh Dancy, Kari Wahlgren and others.

It’s also unknown why Holland won’t be part of the new series alongside characters like MJ Watson (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), who will also be recast by Nico Minoru and Amadeus Cho.

It’s worth clarifying that this possible change is part of France’s version of a multiverse, in which there are thousands of interpretations of a single superhero.

It is hoped that the series focusing on Spidey, Marvel’s most iconic comic book character, will release on Disney Plus on November 2, 2024.
